After the (frankly) strong showing from Amazon with its new Fire lineup, it left many of us wondering if we would see return-fire from the good ship B&N.
The Shots have been fired, and at TabletRoms, we are excited to see the results when the smoke clears.
Barnes and Noble has announced two new tablets for this Q4. The Nook HD, and Nook HD+.

The smaller of the two, it sports a 7 inch 1440×900 display (that should do 720p) as well as on board Storage of either 8Gb or 16Gb (along with expandable memory via MicroSD). This tablet comes with a 1Ghz dual-core OMAP 4470 processor. In a suprising twist, the 8Gb version also comes with 512mb of RAM, wheras the 16Gb version comes with a full 1Gb of RAM.
8Gb $199
16Gb $229
If you can manage it, go for the 16Gb model since the extra thirty bucks brings both double the memory AND double the RAM.

The HD+ has a 9 inch screen, at 1920×1280 (that will do 1080p) with the option of 16Gb or 32Gb of on board storage (with a MicroSD slot). The HD+ will have the 1.5Ghz OMAP 4470 processor, and boasts itself as “20% lighter than the iPad” referring, of course to ‘New iPad’. It also claims to be the “Lightest Full HD tablet” [I am skeptical of this claim]. The version of Android that will be running on both the HD and HD+ will support multiple profiles on it (this may pique your interest, because this is a rumored feature of the next version of Android). It appears that both versions of the HD+ will come with 1Gb of RAM, however the Official specification sheet from B&N did not list the quantity of RAM in the HD+.
16 Gb $269
32 Gb $299
Both of these lines of tablet will require an adapter to output HDMI to your television, I could not find pricing on the adapter.
Hold on to your hats. This is starting to heat up.
